Structure and pillars

The colleagues of the Reproductive Health Research Center are engaged in executive and research activities in the following sections:

 Kowsar Infertility Ward

Kowsar Infertility Department was established in late 2000, but its main activity in the field of ART began in 1982, and the new Kowsar building located in the emergency department of the upper floor was opened in 1994. Gradually, the number of admitted patients has increased so that now an average of 70-60 patients are visited in this center daily. In the near future, this center will be transferred to the infertile center of Dr. Mahzad Comprehensive Women's Hospital.

The Comprehensive Women's Hospital was established in 1393 and opened in 1399. This hospital includes 300 hospital beds. It has facilities such as imaging, radiography, sonography, emergency, general clinic, specialized clinic, imaging center, 9 operating rooms, 15 ICU beds, LDR room, isolation room, 12 NICU beds (neonatal intensive care) and inpatient wards.

The IVF ward of Kowsar Hospital includes the following sections:

The clinic is equipped with an examination bed and an ultrasound device with a vaginal probe.

The IUI room includes 6 gynecology beds, a urology clinic, an IVF staff room and a consultation room. Operating room includes recovery and pack room, operating room equipped with anesthesia and vaginal ultrasound and special suction for picking eggs, room for embryo transfer equipped with 6 gynecological beds, which is also used for biopsy and PESA.

IVF laboratory, which is equipped with the necessary devices to perform laboratory procedures for IUI, ICSI, IVF. Two bed rooms, each with 4 beds.

The treatments that can be done in Kowsar Infertility Center are:

A) Simple methods that do not require the removal of eggs from the body, such as IO, IUI.

B) More sophisticated methods that require the removal of an egg from the body and are called assisted reproductive techniques (ART) such as TET, ICSI, IVF, egg donation, embryo donation and surrogate uterus.

Ovulation stimulation: This method is used in patients where non-ovulation is the only cause of infertility. Therapeutic measures to induce ovulation were limited to clomiphene citrate administration today. Implantation should be performed by identifying successful treatment regimens with the lowest cost and risk. In cases where treatment fails to achieve ovulation or pregnancy, more invasive therapies are often used.

Intrauterine insemination (IUI):

In this method, either with the stimulation method, they first produce a suitable egg, or without stimulating ovulation, they use the mature egg of the individual cycle for IUI without stimulating ovulation. In this method, after the follicle reaches 20 mm (in spontaneous cycles or Drug-induced cycles (HCG) are injected and performed 34 to 40 hours after IUI.

Density gradient and using a special catheter 0.5 cc of the prepared semen sample enters the uterine cavity within 10-30 seconds.

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF):

It involves coordinated and sequential measures that begin with intense and controlled stimulation of the ovary with exogenous gonadotropins and are followed by transvaginal ultrasound. Oocytes are recovered from the ovaries. In general, each oocyte is incubated with 50,000 to 100,000 motile sperm. After fertilization in the laboratory, the embryos are transferred intrauterine 48 to 72 hours later.

 Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI):

In this method, after taking the egg, a selective sperm is injected into the cytoplasm of the egg.

 Donor oocytes:

The natural donor oocyte undergoes artificial insemination with the sperm of the infertile woman's husband.

Gestational surrogates:

In this method, the embryo is transferred to the uterus of a woman who wants to be the cause of their pregnancy on behalf of the infertile couple.

Indications:

1- Women without uterus, whether congenital or hysterectomy

 2. The uterus is irreparably damaged, such as congenital anomalies - severe intrauterine adhesions. 3- Pregnancy is dangerous for them due to medical diseases.

Embryo donation:

Embryo donation has a special feature among the common methods in the treatment of infertility because it leads to the birth of a baby that has no genetic relationship with its parents and at the same time is fundamentally different from adoption because the woman becomes pregnant, gives birth, hugs the baby and She is breastfeeding, growing up, and the baby's father is watching and watching all these steps.

It should be noted:

Diagnostic and therapeutic laparoscopic hysteroscopic procedures include examination of the anatomical position of the internal genitalia of the uterus, examination of the fallopian tubes, and examination of uterine abnormalities. Polypectomy (resection of endometrial polyp), resection and removal of the uterine septum are performed with a resectoscope. Laparoscopic surgery of ectopic pregnancy - hydrosalpinx - twisting ovarian cyst and endometriosis ovarian cyst surgery are also performed.

Specialized clinic for children's growth and development:

Growth and development is a basic science in pediatrics. Familiarity with children's natural growth patterns helps to detect abnormalities from normal ones in a timely manner and to take the necessary and timely action. Growth means a small change in body parts, which is characterized by weight gain, height, and head circumference. Development means the increase of motor skills, mental and sensory power. These changes occur in a special order, organized and somewhat predictable, and are influenced by many factors.

Areas of child development include: communication, gross motor development, fine motor development, problem solving, personal-social development and psychosocial development. The specialized clinic for growth and development of Urmia University of Medical Sciences was established and set up in the complex of Reproductive Health Research Center in cooperation with the Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs at the Comprehensive Urban Health Service Center of the province in 2015.

All children under 8 years of age who in periodic examinations at health centers in the city and villages of Urmia, as well as other cities in the province who have a disorder in one of the indicators of physical growth or have not received a sufficient score in developmental screening All public and private sectors are referred to this center.

In this specialized center, patients are examined more accurately and diagnostically by a certain evolutionary physician, and counseling measures, referral to sub-specialized levels, and other necessary care are performed. Software related to children's growth and development is completed for all patients and is used as a statistical database by researchers of the Reproductive Health Research Center and students.

Specialized sexual health clinic:

The World Health Organization defines sexual health as "the coordination and adaptation of the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social aspects of human sexuality in a way that enhances and enhances personality, relationships, and love." Thus, sexual health is a positive approach to sexuality in humans and refers to making life and interpersonal relationships more productive.

Achieving sexual health for everyone means that one can live a life with individual and social morals and at the same time be able to enjoy and control one's fertility behavior. Sexual health means the ability to have an informed, enjoyable and safe sex life based on the positive expression of sexual characteristics and mutual respect in sexual relations. In this case, sexual health is not only enjoyable but also strengthens interpersonal relationships and prevents many marital disputes and eventually divorce.

Following the request of the Deputy Minister of Health of the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education in 1394, the Reproductive Health Research Center, in cooperation with the vice Chancellor for Health and Education, set up a specialized family and sexual health clinic at the Comprehensive Urban Health Service Center Appeared.

In this specialized clinic, professors from the departments of obstetrics and gynecology, maternal and child health, urology, infectious diseases, psychiatry and maternal and child health of the university with the center of the Reproductive Health Research Center in a coordinated manner to provide comprehensive specialized family and sexual health services .

A software and hardware file is created for all patients and clients and is used as a statistical database by researchers of the Reproductive Health Research Center and students.
