Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences
Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences is one of the 5 departments comprising the School of Paramedical (Allied Sciences) of Urmia University of Medical Sciences. Since its foundation in 1986, the Department has trained and educated Technology Radiology in B.Sc. level. Department offers a 4 year degree program that summarize all the requirements to become an accredited radiographer.
Radiographers are health professionals who facilitate patient diagnosis and management through the creation of medical images using X-rays and magnetic resonance. They play an important role in selecting and implementing the most appropriate examination protocols which will answer the clinical question. Members of the Department also carry out high quality researchers on Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences. Current interests include: research in various fields of medical imaging, radiation dosimetry, and radiation therapy, Monte Carlo simulation in medical physics, radiobiology and radiation protection.
